Does Bali Have A Digital Nomad Visa?

Does Bali have a Digital Nomad visa? At the moment, there is no specific visa for Digital Nomads in Bali but digital nomads coming to Bali in 2023-2024 can apply for the following visas to enjoy extended stays on the islanad and Indonesia.

Before we go on to discuss the best visas for digital nomads in Bali, it’s important to understand that the following visa recommendations are only stay permits, and are not working permits.

Digital nomads are allowed to work remotely in Indonesia as long as they’re working for a non-Indonesian company, meaning that the company that you’re working for is established internationally, outside of Indonesia.

Digital nomads are not allowed to work with an Indonesian company on any of the following visas. If you are hired by a local Indonesian company, you will need a valid Working KITAS, an IMTA and a local sponsor. Learn more here.

Visa On Arrival (VOA)

This is a great option if you’re planning to stay for less than 2 months in Bali or in Indonesia. A Visa On Arrival (VOA) can be purchased when you land at the Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport.

It is valid for 30 days, and can be extended for another 30 days. After these 60 days, you will have to leave the country.

It’s important to note that not all nationalities qualify for a VOA. Click here to visit the Indonesian Immigration’s website for the latest, most updated list of countries.

B211A Visit Visa

This visa was previously known as the Business Visa or the Social Budaya Visa. These terms are no longer used and all visit visas are now referred to as the B211A visa.

This visa is valid for 60 days, and can be extended twice for an additional 60 days each for a total of 180days, without needing to leave the country.

Working KITAS

If you’ve been hired by a local Indonesian company or a company established in Indonesia, then the company and your sponsor will have to process your Working KITAS for you before you can begin working for them. You will also need an IMTA and a set of documents. Click here to see all requirements needed for a Working KITAS.

Investor KITAS

If none of the above applies to you and your situation, you can always opt for an Investor KITAS which lets you set up a company and work here in Bali. You can choose from 1 or 2 years – both will let you enter and leave Indonesia as many times as you like. There are a few requirements that you must fulfil to qualify for an Investor Visa, feel free to contact us to schedule an appointment with our Director, to better understand what you’ll need to apply for the Investor KITAS.

If you’re a DJ or a performer, you could apply for an Artist KITAS.  Once you’ve obtained your Work, Investor or Artist KITAS, we can then help you to apply for your IMTA.
