The Social Cultural Visa (Visa Sosial Budaya) allows foreigners to stay in Indonesia for cultural, educational, or family-related purposes. With this visa, you can stay up to 60 days initially and extend it up to four times, making it an ideal option for those looking to experience Indonesia for a longer period.

Who Can Apply for the Social Cultural Visa?

To apply for the Social Cultural Visa, you need to meet these eligibility requirements:

  • Purpose: You must be visiting for cultural, family, or educational reasons.
  • Sponsor Requirement: A local Indonesian sponsor is required, who can be a family member, educational institution, or cultural organization.
  • Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 12 months.
  • Eligible Applicants: Travelers interested in cultural exchange, visiting family members, or attending educational events.

What Documents are Required for Your Social Cultural Visa Application?

To apply for a Social Cultural Visa, you’ll need the following documents:

  • Visa Application Form: Complete one copy of the application form and submit it along with one passport-sized photo and your passport.
  • Valid Passport: Your passport must be valid for at least 8 months from the date of arrival in Indonesia. Note that temporary passports, emergency travel documents, or travel documents issued by other countries are not considered valid.
  • Return Flight Ticket: A copy of your return flight ticket (or itinerary from a travel agent) showing flights in and out of Indonesia.
  • Letter of Invitation: A letter from a social organization stating the purpose of your visit, guaranteeing all transportation and living expenses incurred, and taking responsibility for your behavior during your stay in Indonesia.
  • Sponsor ID: A copy of the ID of the sponsor. If the sponsor is a non-Indonesian citizen, provide a copy of their KITAS (temporary stay permit) and passport. If the sponsor is an Indonesian citizen, include a copy of their KTP (Indonesian ID card). Note that the sponsor and KTP must be registered as living in Bali.
  • For Minor Applicants: If the applicant is a minor, provide a birth certificate, a statement letter from parents or guardians, and copies of the parents’ or guardians’ IDs if one or both are not traveling with the child.
  • Criminal Convictions Report: Applicants with a history of criminal offenses must provide a Criminal Convictions Report issued by the relevant Indonesian authority.
  • Visa Fee: Please contact your local Indonesian embassy for prices. The cost of this visa varies from country to country and is paid for in the local currency.
