You’ve probably already heard that there could be a price change to one of Bali’s most popular travel documents and entry requirements – the Bali Visa on Arrival.
According to news reports, Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration is considering an increase in cost to Indonesia’s Bali Visa on Arrival (VoA) fee, from the current IDR 500,000 charge potentially increased to IDR 750,000 or IDR 1 million.
This would mean that foreigners coming to Bali would have to fork out double the amount for a Bali Visa on Arrival.
How Much Will The Bali Visa on Arrival Cost?
The current Bali Visa on Arrival fee is currently priced at IDR 500,000 and allows foreigners in Bali to stay in Indonesia for up to 30 days. It can be extended once for a further 30 days.
On 12 August 2026, Indonesia’s Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, said the fee is currently being reviewed by the government. He said that the increase in price is partly linked to fluctuations in the rupiah exchange rate and that the current fee no longer adequately reflects the value of the service.
The proposed new pricing would reportedly fall between IDR 750,000 and IDR 1 million, although the exact structure and implementation date have yet to be confirmed.
For travellers coming to Bali, the important point is that the Bali Visa on Arrival cost remains IDR 500,000 for now. Bali’s Ngurah Rai Immigration Office is still publishing this figure in its latest visitor information.
In other words, the Bali visa fee increase is still only being considered, and travellers should not assume that the higher Bali Visa on Arrival price is already in effect.
What Does This Mean For Your Bali holiday?
For most short-term visitors who are eligible for the VoA, there is no immediate action required. If you are travelling soon, the current government fee for the Bali Visa on Arrival is still IDR 500,000.
The VoA is available to citizens of a wide range of countries, including the UK, Australia, the United States, Malaysia, Singapore and many European countries. Travellers can also apply for an Indonesia e-VoA (electronic Visa on Arrival) before departure, which also currently costs IDR 500,000 and can be paid online.
Please note that the Bali Visa on Arrival is only one part of Indonesia’s entry requirements. Your passport must generally be valid for at least six months, and travellers should also have an onward or return ticket.
